SYNOPSIS

Qalb-Guided Leadership (Module 1, 2, and 3) are offered to managers and executives (young executives, middle managers, and top leadership) in various corporate and government sectors. The modules can be delivered either online or face to face. The modules are considered as comprehensive and cover most of important topics in Islamic Leadership which are essential for managers and leaders in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments. The courses aim to introduce learners with basic concepts and terminologies of Qalb-Guided Leadership by referring to various eastern and western Islamic  as well as conventional leadership literature. The modules will also train the participants to apply some important concepts and approaches of Qalb-Guided Leadership with regard to effective leadership practices. Research findings in the field of Islamic Leadership, contemporary leadership theories, practices of various organizations (Islamic and conventional organizations) will also be used to enrich the discussions and understanding. The modules will also exposed the participants with essential worldview and skills of Qalb-Guided Leadership such as Islamic communication for leaders, the usage of social media in leadership, negotiation, decision making, community based participatory leadership, and strategic leadership from Islamic perspectives. 

The term ‘Qalb Guided Leadership’ will be used continuously across the three modules to stress on the importance of “the right intention and practices” which align to the epistemology of Islamic knowledge and tradition. Generally, the Qalb Guided Leadership combined the understanding and skills of Islamic leadership with conventional effective leadership by considering spiritual being or personal motivation to fulfill one’s responsibilities to the Creator, community, and organization in the context of quality personal leadership at the workplace.

·       Community Based and Participatory Leadership Approach in Islam – Answering Global Challenge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

·       Among other related topics like leadership and development of teamwork motivation in Islamic organization , and Change Management in Islam.

10.   Introduction of UNESCO Knowledge for Change (K4C) Consortium and Community Based Participatory Approach from Islamic Leaders.

Note : UNESCO Knowledge for Change (K4C) Consortium was established by UNESCO Chair in Community Based Research and Social Responsibility in Higher Education, University of Victoria (Uvic), Canada and Participatory Research in Asia (PRIA). The K4C Consortium aims to contribute co-creation of knowledge in various disciplines to answer Global Challenge of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through closed engagement of academia, government and corporate sectors, and civil societies. Imparting SDGs in overall strategic plan of Islamic organizations is important to improve the visibility of Islamic Organizations in SDGs initiatives and more importantly to co-creating knowledge and ideas with regard to Islamic leadership approach to answer the challenge of SDGs.   

11.   Summary

LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO):

Fundamental Learning Outcomes for Qalb-Guided Leadership Module 1, 2, and 3 :

CLO 1 : To introduce participants with concept of Qalb-Guided Leadership based on Islamic and conventional leadership literature.

CLO 2 : To improve the quality of Qalb-Guided leadership at both traits and behaviors levels of all participants for effective organizational management.

Additional Outcomes for Qalb-Guided Leadership Module 2 and 3 :

CLO 3 : To introduce participants with important skills and practices of Qalb-Guided leadership (i.e Negotiation and communication; Team work; and Community based participatory leadership)

CLO 4 : To introduce participants with important skills and practices of Qalb-Guided leadership (i.e Islamic strategic leadership, Islamic decision making, Negotiation and communication; Team work; and Community based and participatory leadership.
